If you’re new to crypto, the first real question is always: where do I keep my coins? A wallet app is not just an app — it’s your keys, your access, your control. Pick wrong and you’ll hate every step. Pick right and you’ll actually stick with it.
I usually recommend Phantom Wallet. Here’s why:
For your first steps, Phantom strikes the balance: simple enough that you won’t quit in frustration, but solid enough that you’re not cutting corners on safety.
Click "Create Wallet" and download the Phantom Wallet app. Follow the prompts to install it on your device.
Create new wallet with seed phrase. Do not create email or cloud wallets, it's unsecure. Write your secret recovery phrase twice on two separate sheets of paper. Remember to store them securely in different locations — this phrase is crucial for accessing your funds in the future. Never share your recovery phrase, as it acts as the password to your wallet.
After creating a wallet - log out, open the Phantom app again and select “I already have a wallet”, then choose “Import Secret Recovery Phrase.” Enter the recovery phrase from your paper copy. This step ensures that the phrase has been written down correctly and without errors.
Personalize your wallet by adjusting security settings, notifications, and visual themes to match your preferences.
